My Visit to Kushala Yoga for a Community Focussed Branding Session
Karen and Chris are the community oriented owners and head yogis at Kushala Yoga in Port Moody. The wellness centre offers yoga classes, workshops and teacher training. Together, this duo have been teaching yoga and wellness for 13 years and realized it was time to refresh and renew their branding presence with a Business Branding Session to really show how community focussed they are.
They contacted Michele Mateus Photography for a Personal Branding Session and as I do with all of my clients, we discussed who they are, what inspires them and what Kushala is all about. It’s so important for a Branding Photographer to truly understand the company and the people who are that business, to be able to properly create images that will tell the story of the group.
Kushala – Who They Are
When I asked Karen and Chris what inspires them to provide this wellness service day after day, I was not surprised by the answer, as these two are all about their community.
“The people who come to the studio! We love our members; their strength, dedication, curiosity, humour, authenticity, vulnerability, it’s inspiring to work with our amazing community through so many years.”
They really believe in and appreciate each of their members. Through their programs they offer self-empowerment, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
“We hold space for people to do something good for themselves, so they can approach life at their best.”
Sounds a lot like what I do for my intimate portrait sessions. I love when I get to work with businesses that have a similar approach to their work as I do.
Community Focussed Branding Session
Knowing that their members are their inspiration and the core of their business, it made complete sense to shoot their session at the studio with Karen and Chris and their members, of course.
They’re all about ‘real people, doing real life’ so we visited (somewhat quietly) a ‘teacher training’ yoga class at Kushala Studio. It was incredible to feel the energy in the room, the support for all, and the positivity, which I feel you can be see in their images. Everyone was so genuinely engaged and it made for a special day for all.
Figuring out who a client is, what makes them tick, what their inspiration is and what their goals are, are all important aspects for me to properly understand when doing a Personal Branding session. Chris and Karen were both very clear on all of this, and of their vision so it made my job super easy. It was a pleasure working with them.
